La Mata is perhaps best known for the impressive 2.5 km long beach with its promenade.
The beach has been awarded for several years in a row with the European Blue Flag award, thanks to the good cleanliness of the beach, the safety and the quality of the water.
Due to local development plans and the fact that La Mata is surrounded by three large protected natural areas and the Mediterranean, the area will maintain its status as a jewel along the coast.
In the area you will find several fantastic hiking areas. To the west is the Parque Natural de La Mata, with the large salt lake Laguna Salada.

Just north of La Mata is another large natural area that extends into the neighboring town of Guardamar. Here you can walk for miles along the beach in beautiful unspoiled natural surroundings.
South of Torrevieja is the Parque del Molino de Agua, with hiking trails at every turn. Here you will find short pine trees that grow on the dunes. The park also has a waterfall that runs from the top of the park and almost all the way down to the beach.
The private and recognized Hospital of Torrevieja, Quiron, is only 2.5 km from your apartment. And if you like to go shopping, you will find the Habaneras and Carrefour shopping centers just 4.5 km away.
In Habaneras you will also find activities such as cinema, bowling alley and game center. The largest shopping center on the Costa Blanca, Zenia Boulevard, is 13 km south along the N332 coastal road.
In this part of the Costa Blanca you will also find a wide selection of very good golf courses. In just a 30-minute drive, you reach at least seven golf courses, including La Finca and Las Colinas. These are considered to be the best golf courses in Spain.
La Mata is also close to the N332 coastal road, and there are good bus connections to Torrevieja, the airport and Alicante.
